The role of organic aerosols in cloud formation

NOSA together with ABS and CBACCI is pleased to invite students to the first NOSA Summer School "Role of organic aerosols in cloud formation". The Summer School starts on August 16th and ends on August 22nd and is held at Hyytiälä Forestry Field Station in Finland.

Course news

  • 3.7.2009: The transport schedule from Helsinki to Hyytiälä has changed slightly. The departure from the railway station square takes place on Sunday, August 16 at 15:30, and the bus stops at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport at 16:15.

The course is worth 3 credits of ECTS (European Credit Transfer System)

The course is aimed PhD students and advanced MSc students of atmospheric sciences. Topics that will be covered are:

  • Aerosols in the climate system
  • Organic aerosol compounds
  • Dynamics of aerosol populations
  • Meteorology and cloud dynamics
  • Large-scale modelling of organic aerosols and clouds

Exam
There will be an oral exam in the end of the course, on August 21st.

Costs
Participation fee:

0 EURPhD and MSc students from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden
300 EUROther participants

The participation fee includes accommodation in two-person rooms in Hyytiälä, all meals during the course, and bus transport between Helsinki and Hyytiälä. There are travel grants available for students coming from Nordic and Baltic countries.
