DATA ORGANIZATION

The data is organized to three main folders
/GEN   - General information, time vectors, size vectors
/DISTC - Size distribution datasets
/HISTC - Histogram datasets

GEN

	Files:			 Explanation:
	hist_cons_means.dat   :  Array of geometric mean concs (1/cm3) 
                                 used to plot histograms
	standard_sizes.dat    :  Array of geometric mean dry diameters 
                                 used to plot distributions (nm)
        timevec_DOY.dat       :  Timevector of START of GMT time 
                                 measurements for N_XX vectors
                                 FORMAT: Days from 1.1.2008
        timevec_matlab.dat    :  As above, but in Matlab DATENUM format 

DISTC

Size distribution information

  Number of files in following format:

  [STAT]_[SUBS]_DIST_[YEAR].dat

 where 
 [STAT] is the 3-letter station code
 [SUBS] is the subset of the data used, one of:
	TOT  :  all valid data
	WIN  :  Winter data
	SPR  :  Spring data
	SUM  :  Summer data
	AUT  :  Autumn data
	ECH  :  ECHAM5-HAM output (see appndx C of the ACPD paper)
	NIG  :  Only night-time values (whole year)
	DAY  :  Only day-time values (whole year)
 [YEAR] is one of the following:
	BOTH : 2008-2009
	2008 : 2008
	2009 : 2009

FORMAT:
  Colums denote sizes, get them from "standard_sizes.dat" in GEN folder 
(in nm)
 Rows:
  1st : 5th percentile
  2nd : 16th
  3rd : 50th (median)
  4th : 83rd
  5th : 95th

Units: dN/Dlog10(dp), in cm-3

Negative values indicate poor/missing size sections for the period

HISTC

Histogramic information (N50 etc.)

To use these, get the timevector and the histogram concentration
vector from GEN folder (above)

 A lot of files of name type:

[STAT]_[typ].dat

Where [STAT] is the station code and
      [typ] is one of the following:
 	[gd] "Gooddata and night" filter. First column: if 1 - data 
             usable. Second column: if 1 - the sun was below horizon. 
             Use this in combination of the time vector from GEN folder
	[hists] main histogram info. 
                Colums: number concentration bins 
	           (compare with constractions from histogram 
                    concentration array in GEN folder)
                Rows: (Unit: absolute relative frequency) 
		1) N30-50 all time
		2) N50    all time
		3) N100   all time
		4) N30-50 Winter
		5) N30-50 Spring
		6) N30-50 Summer
		7) N30-50 Autumn
		8) N50 Winter
		9) N50 Spring
		10)N50 Summer
		11)N50 Autumn
		12)N100 Winter
		13)N100 Spring
		14)N100 Summer
		15)N100 Autumn
		16)N30-50 Night
		17)N30-50 Day

	[N30], [N50], [N100] and [N250]
		timeseries of N30-50, N50, N100 and N250 respectively
		Units: 1/cm3
		USE "gd" array (same directory)! This is important as some 
		of the data is erroreneous, measuring room air or
		for some other reason unusable!


DOCUMENTATION

Please read the Asmi et al (2011) manuscript, especially the last (C) appendix, which includes a short list of points which should be considered in data-model comparisons

KNOWN BUGS

In some stations, the timeseries are one unit longer than timevec. Remove in these cases the last datapoint. This will be rectrified in the next version. AA: This should be now rectrified. If problem persists, let me know.
