Numlab-2018 - Sensitivity studies with OpenIFS during the Kira storm in August 2017

Some results of the Laboratory course in numerical meteorology (5 cp) of spring 2018 are presented. The course aim was to understand model response to parameter variations in general,
and related to the Kira storm in particular. MSc and PhD students in the Master and Doctoral programmes in Atmospheric sciences will give the following 12 minutes group presentations:

- Short overview (Heikki Järvinen)
- Surface friction sensitivity test with OpenIFS (Kerttu Kouki, Viivi Kallio and Vilma Kangasaho)
- Regional effect of deep convection in different model configurations (Ilona Välisuo, Kalle Nordling and Salla Sillanpää)
- Entrainment rate in deep convection (Kaisa Ylinen, Terhi Laurila, Marianne Santala)
