Early Career Scientists (ECS)

Call for new committee members to enter the NOSA ECS (Early Career Scientists) board:

We are calling for applications from Early Career Scientists* to serve on the NOSA ECS board from April 2018 and two years onward. The deadline for consideration is 12th of March, 2018. Applicants should send their statement by email to dean.chen@helsinki.fi. The statement includes a short description (i.e. a few sentences) of yourself, your research and your career stage. Your statement will be posted on the NOSA website shortly after the application deadline. An election will be held during the NOSA-FAAR 2018 conference. It is possible to apply also if you are unable to attend the conference.

 

Call for nominees to the Early Career Scientists’ (ECS) aerosologist award

The NOSA board has established an ECS aerosologist award for outstanding PhD dissertations in order to recognise and encourage high quality research by ECS. The award will be given yearly during the NOSA symposium to one newly graduated PhD. This will happen for the very first time during the NOSA-FAAR 2018 conference in Helsinki, Finland. This year, candidates that have successfully obtained their PhD degree at a Nordic university within 1st of January– 31st of December 2017 will be considered. The topic of the dissertation should be related to aerosol research. Supervisors can nominate candidates by submitting a cover letter by the supervisor of the dissertation work, including a short summary of the thesis, a link to an electronic version of the thesis, list of publications included in the thesis, and justification for the nomination. The following statements should additionally be submitted if available: the statement of the dissertation grading committee, the statement of the opponent, and the statement of the dissertation pre-reviewers. The documents should be submitted as one single PDF file to glasius@chem.au.dk. The deadline for nominations is 26th of February, 2017.

 

Student awards for best poster and oral presentations:

The best poster and oral student** presentations during the NOSA-FAAR 2018 conference will be rewarded with a nice prize. So do your best, and sign up for the competition when you submit your abstract!

 

Financial bursaries available to ECS

With the kind support from the Maj and Tor Nessling Foundation, NOSA and FAAR have a limited number of financial bursaries available to cover registration fees for early career scientists*, and especially students. The application form can be found here.

 

 

*PhD students and researchers with max. 4 years of full-time experience since the PhD degree has been awarded. Career breaks will be taken into consideration.
