From 2006 to 2011, I was a joint professor at the University of Helsinki and Finnish Meteorological Institute. I was also supported by the Vaisala Corporation. Officially, my title was Professor of Experimental Meteorology. I am now at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, and I am an associate at the School of Earth and Environment, University of Leeds. I am a US citizen, formerly at the Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies at the University of Oklahoma and the NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory.

My research interests are numerous, but include:

synoptic and mesoscale meteorological phenomena such as extratropical cyclones, fronts, banded precipitation, and instabilities
interaction between meteorological research and operational forecasting
numerical weather prediction
convective morphology
dual-polarimetric radar and winter precipitation
precipitation processes
snow density
meteorological influences on secondary aerosol production and growth
mesoscale observing networks
the scientific peer-review process
