NorWiP (http://www.norwip.org/) is an umbrella organization for national networks for women working in physics, established in 2005. The objectives of the network are to exchange information and knowledge among and about women in physics, increase their visibility and facilitate international networking. The workshop is intended to physicists working in various fields of physics in the Nordic countries, both women and men. We encourage physicists at all stages of their career to participate, from students to professors, both in academia and industry. Also scientists from nearby fields are welcome. The workshop is hosted by the Department of Physics at the University of Helsinki, and it will be held at Physicum-building in Kumpula Campus Area (c. 4km from the center of Helsinki). Participation is free of charge. Financial support for travel costs is available for under- and post-graduate students (details of application procedure are announced later). The program is a mixture of science and gender issues. Plenary talks will be given by female physicists from the top of their fields. A special session is devoted to equality in physics education. Social program includes an excursion to UEFA Women’s European Championship football match and a workshop dinner. |
