The 3rd<\/sup> training for moderators participating in the 2nd<\/sup> Virtual Exchange Week (VE Week; 12-16 My 2025) for students was carried out on 30 April 2025. In total, more than 30 persons attended online the training. The focus of the training was on summarising topics\/ issues\/ outcomes of the 5 CLUVEX trainings completed during May-Sep 2024 as well as 2 previous trainings \u201cModerators-Get-Together\u201d and discussing in more details on how the groups are divided, practical testing Zoom break-out-rooms, questions from moderators and answers, etc. About 40 moderators completed registration (according to DigiCampus) for the 2nd<\/sup>  Virtual Exchange Week and completed the pre-questionnaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this last the 3rd<\/sup> training for moderators, the focus was on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What you need to remember about technical skills?
What you need to remember about the Climate University courses?
What you need to remember about the soft skills?
What you need to remember about the guidebooks and materials?
What you need to remember about the Climate Horizon exercise and data visualization tools?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first, to refresh moderators\u2019 knowledge and technical skills on using the communication platform Zoom (work in groups of students in break-out-rooms), and the collaborative platform Miro-board (work on Climate Horizon exercise and support group discussions and workshopping with more specific instructions in the schedule). All participants focused on work in Zoom break-out-rooms and on Miro-board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At second, to remind about available Climate University relevant online courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At third, practical skills in involving all group members to participate in discussions; at beginning to have time to get to know one another in a more informal manner; to provide assisting questions and other instructions for each day to structure and support the discussion and workshopping the Climate Horizon exercise; and to encourage using different communication aids, such as the chat feature, translators and Miro-board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At fourth, to be clear on the concept of CLUVEX Virtual Exchange, incl. familiarization with  guidebooks on Virtual Exchanges, Climate Literacy, and Climate Messenger Code of Conduct; and to have a clear idea of the Climate Horizon exercise and moderators\u2019 role in guiding the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At fifth, to guide and instruct students in groups on Climate Horizon exercise that students will imagine and dream what a hopeful future would look like from climate change perspective & the students will construct this vision using delivered lectures and discussions; to encourage students conceptual and creative thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, several examples (or formats) of the Climate Horizon exercises were shared, which were developed through (i) using climate data visualization tools, (ii) learning diary, note-taking, free text, letter; and (iii) artistic presentation (a collage or drawing and brief description text).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These were followed by questions from the participants and answers from the CLUVEX University Helsinki team members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
