Special Issue on "Natural Aerosols in a Changing Climate" to be published in Advances in Meteorology.

We invite you to contribute original research articles or review articles that will improve the continuing efforts to understand the interaction between natural aerosol and climate. Potential topics:
* Characterization of source, chemical transformation, transport, and removal of natural aerosols
* Measurement of optical, chemical, and microphysical properties of natural aerosols
* Role of natural aerosol in air/marine pollution, acid rain, and high-altitude meteorology
* Direct and indirect radiative effects by natural aerosols

ÉCLAIRE Winter School

ÉCLAIRE Winter School on Measurement and modelling of biosphere-atmosphere exchanges of trace gases and aerosols will be on 3-11 February 2014 in Paris, France. Links between land-use and climate explored in new initiative

On 25-26 September iLEAPS, AIMES and GLP met at a workshop in Amsterdam to start a new initiative "Interactions among Managed Ecosystems, Climate and Societies (IMECS)".

From agriculture and rangelands to cities and managed forests, humans dominate the global land surface. The scale of human impact is now so significant researchers from IGBP projects AIMES, GLP and iLEAPS say "Human-dominated environments have become equally important in the Earth System as natural ones."
