The IT Center for Science (CSC, Finland, https:\/\/www.csc.fi<\/a>) provides opportunities for initiating and expanding collaboration between Finnish and international universities\/ organizations in research and educational projects employing CSC\u2019s computing infrastructure, computing resources, storage facilities, etc.\u00a0 Such opportunity is realised in a form of High-Performance-Computing (HPC) projects.<\/p>\n

In particular, activities on the PEEX Modelling Platform (PEEX-MP) research and development are realised through HPC projects in a field of the Earth Sciences and Environment. Three of such research projects with employing of the Enviro-HIRLAM (Environment-HIgh Resolution Limited Area Model; https:\/\/www.helsinki.fi\/en\/researchgroups\/multi-scale-modelling\/enviro-hirlam<\/a>) seamless\/online integrated multi-scales and -processes modelling system allow to strengthen, expand and improve international collaboration among the PEEX Partners.<\/p>\n

New CSC\u2019s HPC research projects started\u00a0 in recent months are the following: (4) \u201cIntegrated Systems and Analysis of URBan mobility for climate-neutral and sustainable cities in Europe<\/em>\u201d (in collaboration with Dr. Maher Sahyoun, Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark); (5) \u201cAssessment of the current state of Atmospheric Air in the Atyrau region (Republic of Kazakhstan) in the Sustainable Development Context<\/em>\u201d (in collaboration with young researcher Gulnur Musralinova, PhD student at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almaty, the Republic of Kazakhstan); and (6) \u201cSeamless Modelling of AtmospheRic state and composition under influence of Helsinki and other cities in the BalTic Sea region<\/em>\u201d (in collaboration with Dr. \u00a0Georgii Nerobelov at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, Jena, Germany).<\/p>\n
