The Horizon Europe FOCI project \u201cFOCI is Non-CO2 Forcers And Their Climate, Weather, Air Quality And Health Impacts<\/em>\u201d (Sep 2022 – Aug 2026; https:\/\/www.project-foci.eu<\/a>) review meeting took place online during 21-22 January 2026. The project involves 17 Partners<\/a> and focuses on integrating better data for these crucial pollutants into global climate models to assess mitigation strategies. In total, 28 participants attended the event, including Dr. Luisa Marconi (new \u00a0EU Scientific Officer of the FOCI project) and the appointed reviewer. This event was hosted by the coordinator, the Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic). The agenda included a series of presentations as overview of work done (from March 2024 to August 2025), main results, next steps, and discussions arranged in 2 days.<\/p>\n

On 20th<\/sup> January, the meeting started from the welcome words from the coordinator, round table introduction of participants, and followed by FOCI working packages (WPs) reporting and discussions: Note, the project has four main pillars such as (I) Improved process understanding; (II) Tools for quantifying impacts across scales; (III) Projections of climate change impacts across scales; and (IV) Innovative mitigation actions for the future.
\nThe reporting started from (WP1) Processes controlling climate change impacts for anthropogenic non-CO2<\/sub> species; and followed by (WP2) Processes controlling climate change impacts of natural non-CO2<\/sub> species; (WP3) Improvements in Earth System Modelling for climate applications; (WP5) Multiscale emissions processing and development of scenarios for model projections; (WP7) Integrated analysis of innovative, optimised mitigation options to support climate policy; (WP4) Regional model improvement and evaluation for quantifying multiscale impacts for non-CO2<\/sub> forcers. All presentations and discussions on WPs tasks, deliverables, milestones, activities, etc. followed by questions\/ answers.<\/p>\n

On 21st<\/sup> January, the reporting continued with (WP6) Multiscale projections to quantify contributions and impacts on climate, weather, air quality and health; (WP8) Global dissemination, communication and engagement with stakeholders; and (WP9) Project management, coordination and oversight. The next steps of the FOCI project implementation were outlined and discussed, followed by general discussion on the work done, and feedback from the reviewer. The meeting ended with final remarks\/ comments.<\/p>\n
