The IMPRS-ESM is a joint program by the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and the University of Hamburg.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2001, the structured doctoral program provides an interdisciplinary infrastructure to PhD candidates from different parts of the world, such that they can advance their academic training and complete a doctoral thesis within 3 years. Doctoral candidates contribute to the understanding of the Earth system through the application, evaluation and development of a spectrum of Earth system models at different levels of complexity and at various spatial and temporal scales.
