On the 18–19.May.2018, The Cyprus Institute hosted the International Summit-Conference Climate Change in the Mediterranean and the Middle East: Challenges and Solutions. The conference addressed the scientific basis of Climate Change in the region, its various impacts and challenges, mitigation/adaptation strategies, policy challenges and governance. The Conference was preceded by two days of Scientific Workshops focused on modelling predictions of Climate Change and its impacts – especially in the areas of sustainability, energy, health, agriculture, water security and migration – as well as examine and propose mitigation and adaptation strategies. In the Workshop Dr. Hanna Lappalainen gave a presentation of PEEX as an example of high impact research network. INAR/University of Helsinki is participating the EU Teaming project coordinated by Cypros Inst. and is interested in developing SMEAR type station in Cypros.
