Project Description

Acad. Markku Kulmala opened the 2nd Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center (ACCC) Science Conference, 21-22 November 2022, in Tampere. PEEX and GlobalSMEAR /Global Earth Observatory are the parts of the Finnish Flagship.

Finnish Flagship projects funded by the Academy of Finland are aimed at high-quality research and increasing the economic and societal impact emerging from the research. The Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center (ACCC) flagship started in 2022 and is built on partnerships of INAR at the University of Helsinki, Finnish Meteorological Institute, Tampere University and University of Eastern Finland towards safe climate and clean air. ACCC is bridging atmospheric research with high societal impact on climate and air quality related policies, services, innovations, new businesses and with a capacity building on climate competences. ACCC collaborates with different stakeholders representing public and private sectors. The outcomes are disseminated from national to international scales by, inter alia, PEEX Program and GlobalSMEAR initiative
