Welcome to the annual conference – Arctic Frontiers 2027: Information/Disinformation. The conference will take place during 1-4 February 2027 in Tromsø, Norway.

The Arctic is in the global spotlight, and an increased number of players want a seat at the table to influence the future of the region. This amplified attention brings new opportunities for collaboration – and new challenges to the Arctic dialogue. We live in a world where disinformation and distrust of science is widespread.

More than ever, it is important to facilitate knowledge-based conversations between science, policy, communities and businesses in the Arctic. It is important that the discussions reflect the reality of the people that live there and that leading Arctic voices come together to share their perspectives. The Arctic of the future is determined by the decisions of today – and the information on which the decisions are based.

At the conference will be seven science themes. These represent the latest advancements in Arctic research and span the physical and social sciences, as well as technological developments and innovative methods.

Science themes:

1. Natural hazards and observed earth change in Arctic and subarctic environments and societies
2. Biodiversity Change in Arctic Freshwaters: Causes, Consequences and Conservation
3. Changing Arctic sea ice: observation, prediction, implications and adaptation
4. Observation technologies for science, security, and preparedness
5. The Arctic in Transition: Observing, Understanding, and Navigating Climate and Environmental Change
6. Ice is a Critical Mineral!
7. Information over Disinformation: Security, Sovereignty, Science and Communities

The deadline for abstract submission is 5th October 2026.
