Project Description

The “Big Earth Data Center” was established on a basis of the Big Earth Data Science Engineering Project (CASEarth; https://sdg.casearth.cn/en), and it is administered by the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS; http://www.cbas.ac.cn/en) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). The CBAS aims to harnesses Big Earth Data to serve the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. CBAS is featuring multidisciplinary research related to Earth System, social, economic, as well as sustainability sciences. CBAS is devoted to the monitoring and evaluation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators in the areas where Big Earth Data plays a key role, including environmental commons, urban and peri-urban development, food security and energy decarbonization.

The “Big Earth Data Center” (https://data.casearth.cn/en) will continue to provide data service to both CBAS and CAS after the CASEEarth project completion. The data sharing and openness of the developed web-based platform is the shared interesting by the PEEX community. The Center’s Data Sharing and Service Portal is built for release and sharing of data resources of CASEarth. The portal provides different data mining models, multiple data acquisition patterns, online services for customized multiple data formats (view, preview, query), support to advanced functions (data evaluation, validation, download, etc.).
