Project Description

The ClimEd project is coming to an end this May. Throughout its implementation, the project has faced several challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The final project meeting will be held in Helsinki in May. The meeting currently being held is part of the preparation for the final reporting.
Tarragona, Spain — The Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) was hosting a three-day hybrid workshop on 25-27 March as part of the ongoing ClimEd project, bringing together key  partners  from the University of Helsinki, Estonian University of Life Sciences, and Odessa National University, alongside the host institution.

Day 1: Reflecting on Progress and Looking Ahead
The workshop opened with a welcome from URV, setting the stage for strategic discussions within the ClimEd project timeline. Participants then conducted a comprehensive review of key project deliverables, focusing on their long-term relevance, usability, and adaptability across different institutional contexts.
In the afternoon, attention turned to strategic foresight, with partners exploring future trends in climate services education and identifying external factors that could influence the sustainability of project outcomes. The day concluded with in-depth discussions on valorisation pathways, including how ClimEd results can be integrated into educational systems, institutional frameworks, and future initiatives.
Day 2: Strengthening Alignment and Ownership
The second day focuses on consolidating insights and defining priority areas for sustainability. A central theme is the role of Odessa National University as a national focal point, particularly in coordinating efforts between EU and Ukrainian partners.
Discussions also address institutional ownership and mechanisms to ensure that project outcomes remain embedded and actively used beyond the project’s lifespan. The afternoon session is dedicated to preparing the final phase of ClimEd, including shaping key messages for the final meeting and contributing to sustainability sections of the final report.
Day 3: Planning the Future
The final day is devoted to forward planning and agreement on shared strategic orientations. Partners aim to identify realistic follow-up opportunities and ensure continuity of the project’s impact.
The workshop will conclude with a wrap-up session summarizing key outcomes and outlining next steps, ensuring that insights gained in Tarragona are effectively integrated into the project’s final activities.
