Project Description

The Lahti University Campus, the University of Helsinki (UH), Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR) and the Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT), Department of Computational Engineering are pleased to announce the summer school on “Application of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI / ML) techniques in Atmospheric Science” from August 11 to 15, 2025, in city of Lahti, Finland.

This summer school will provide introductory lectures on relevant atmospheric topics and computational methods. Students (BSc, MSc, PhD levels) will work in small mixed groups with different scientific backgrounds for the hands-on training, covering about half of the course time. Each group will use previously created atmospheric datasets in the exercise to train an end-to-end neural network.
