Project Description

The Erasmus+ CLUVEX (Climate University for Virtual Exchanges; https://www.atm.helsinki.fi/cluvex), the UnaVEx (Una Europa Virtual Exchanges for Sustainability; https://www.atm.helsinki.fi/unavex) and the ClimEd (Multilevel Local, Nation- and Regionwide Education and Training in Climate Services, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation; http://climed.network) projects overview oral presentation entitled “Virtual Exchanges and Climate Education as a Tool for European Partnership Development for SDGs” was delivered by Dr. Hanna K. Lappalainen (Univ Helsinki) at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly (27 Apr -2 May 2025, Vienna, Austria). It was presented on 2nd May 2025 during the Session EOS2.5 “From real-world data to climate change education: A call to action”. The presentation included information slides about the three Erasmus+ ongoing projects – CLUVEX, UnaVEx, and ClimEd, which are focused on the Virtual Exchanges (VEs). In project, partners from Europe (Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Italy, Spain), Africa (South Africa, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo), Armenia, and Ukraine incl. 2 Ministries of Ukraine, plus, 16 Associated Partners formed the 3 consortia.

Outline of presentation included topics/issues of the Online learning as the future of education; General aims of the CLUVEX & UnaVEx projects; Welcome to act as moderators; Calls for VE Weeks for students; the first CLUVEX & UnaVEx VE Weeks – lecturers and guest speakers; VE Week online work in groups and earned bonuses for CLUVEX & UnaVEx students; Welcome to the Climate University and the Una Europa online courses; Approach in VEs realised in the ClimEd project trainings; Covid19: online vs. onsite/ hybrid; ClimEd last trainings in 2024-2025 in Spain and Estonia; ClimEd trainings, learning outcomes/ skills/ competencies, groups, and participants.

The supplementary materials include the learning outcomes/ skills/ competencies of the Virtual Exchange Weeks for students for the CLUVEX and UnaVEx projects, as well as of the ClimEd project trainings.
