The CLUVEX Training #5 for moderators took place online on 12th September 2024. More than 40 moderators attended the online training. The main focus was placed on introduction of the CLUVEX Group Exercise “Climate Horizon” and publicly available tools for visualisation, analysis, and interpretation of climate related data. Such web-based tools include the ERA-5 Explorer, SSPathways, and IPCC Atlas. After presentations a short discussion (up to 10 minutes) took place in break-out-rooms in zoom on the group exercise, tools and their practical usage/ testing.
The first presentation on “Climate Horizon” exercise included details-instructions on a daily virtual/online work by groups of students with a moderator. During Virtual Exchange (VE) Week, students will build “climate horizons” by exploring present world from different perspectives, considering past that have led to the current situation, and possible future scenarios. The personal and collaborative “Climate Horizons” will be elaborated.
The ERA5 Explorer tool (https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/cdsapp#!/software/app-era5-explorer) will be used on 2nd day of the VE Week for students for Environment and Data Visualization | Past & Present. The SSPathways tool (https://data.worldbank.org/indicator & https://tntcat.iiasa.ac.at/SspDb) will be used on 3rd for of VE Week for Socio-Economic Drivers of Climate Change | Past & Future.
