Climate University webinar
A Climate University webinar aimed for teachers, coordinators and other staff at the higher education institutions of the Climate University network will be organised on 3rd of October at 9-12. The webinar will begin with a general introduction to the Climate University network, followed by course introductions of all Climate University courses. This is a great opportunity for teachers to get a glimpse into courses they are interested in teaching, and to learn how a specific course is taught at one of the partner higher education institutions.

The Climate University annual meeting is organised during the Lappeenranta Sustainability week, see the events of the week below:
- 3.-4.11.2025 Unifi’s (the Council of Rectors of Finnish Universities) sustainability and responsibility (KEVA) -seminar.
- 4.-5.11.2025 Climate University annual meeting Play to Learn.
- 6.11.2025 Lukema (the network for developing high school mathematics and sciences) will organize programme for high school teachers.
- 6.11.2025 Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT organizes “Tieteestä tulevaisuus” -seminar focusing on science, sustainability and technology education. This seminar gathers teachers from primary education, high schools and Junior universities and general education practitioners working on science, sustainability and technology education content.

Launching this autumn: Planetary Health MOOC
A new Climate University course, the Planetary Health MOOC, is being launched in October. The new MOOC is a 3 ECTS course building a holistic approach of health by introducing different perspectives of the connection between human health and nature.

CLUVEX virtual exchange is organised for the 3rd time in October
The CLUVEX multidisciplinary international student exchange week is held in October for the third time. CLUVEX welcomes students from all disciplines and faculties regardless of study background or the stage of the studies from all Finnish higher education institutions. During the virtual exchange course students will be introduced to the latest scientific knowledge on climate change from multidisciplinary perspectives – natural sciences, social sciences and the arts. On the virtual exchange students will get to collaborate with like-minded students from Denmark, Ukraine, Armenia, Finland and other EU and EU neighbourhood countries.
CLUVEX virtual exchange is a great opportunity for a student that is considering exchange studies or wants to practice their language skills and get practice in international collaboration. The language of the virtual exchange is English, and it is free of charge.
The exchange week is held 6-10 October at 14:00 to 17:00 (EEST, Helsinki time) each day in Zoom. The virtual exchange gives the student 1 ECTS credit (issued by the University of Helsinki) and a Climate Messenger Certificate issued by the CLUVEX project.

Apply to the Specialisation Programme in Climate Expertise
The second round of the Specialisation Programme in Climate Expertise (Ilmastoasiantuntijan erikoistumiskoulutus) will begin in January 2026, and the call for students will open soon. Two application information sessions have been organised in the beginning of September, and the content of the Q&A session can be found on this webpage (in Finnish only). The Specialisation Programme in Climate Expertise is a two-year programme that aims to answer to the increasing need for climate expertise in society across all sectors. The teaching language of the programme is Finnish.
The application time for the programme is 25.9.-15.10.2025.

The upcoming climate negotiations are taking place in Belém, Brazil, in 10.-21.11.2025, with possible Climate University representation. Please be in contact if you are planning to attend or have ideas on further collaboration around the event.
