CLUVEX – Climate University for Virtual Exchanges

The CLUVEX oral talk was presented by Alexander Baklanov on the EGU-2024 Open session on Teaching & Learning in Higher Education, convened by Elizabeth Petrie and Zoltán Erdős. The Session included 21 oral and 12 poster contributions of general interest within the Higher Education community and introduced different areas involving the teaching of geoscience and related fields in higher education.

The CLUVEX presentation (pdf) had a great interest from several projects and participants of the session.

Several reported projects showed an interest in collaboration with CLUVEX, including project NATRISK: Enhancing risk management and resilience to natural hazards in India, Brazil and Norway through collaborative education, research and innovation presented by Luca Piciullo, and Disaster risk reduction for a resilient world presented by Solmaz Mohadjer.

The Helsinki University education program Education in climate expertise as an instrument for sustainable change and a pathway for climate-resilient future was also presented by Kenneth Peltokangas (on photo), coauthored with Laura Riuttanen, Tiina Nygård, Taina Ruuskanen, Mira Hulkkonen, Eeva Kuntsi-Reunanen, Hilppa Gregow, Jussi Kaurola, Kati Kulovesi, and Markku Kulmala.

Enric Aguilar made an interesting presentation on Using WMO’s Competencies for the Provision of Climate Services in Bachelor’s Degree: The Experience of the URV’s Bachelor in Geography, Territorial Analyis and Sustainabilty.

Mark Anderson from University Geoscience UK (UGUK) (on photo) made an interesting analysis for Actions to address the recruitment crisis into Geoscience related degrees in the UK.

Besides the poster session was also of a great interest (some photos) and potential for CLUVEX collaboration.
